Minutes of the Branch Meeting in September 2008

Terry Edge welcomed the members that attended

  1. Terry then asked if anyone knew of and bereavement since the last meeting
  2. The following apologies where accepted Pop Whitwell, Sam Bloye, Mick Bradshaw.
  3. Richard then went through the minutes of the last meeting these were duly signed.
  4. Richard went on to say the TA 100 was a great success in Ely.
  5. Richard went on to say that the Veterans Parades in both Peterborough and Whittlesey was a great success
  6. Richard then went on to the subject of the demise of the Northampton Office and it will become very much Royal Anglian orientated and the Regimental Secretary will be responsible for Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.
  7. We have got to look toward one or the other or both Regimental Secretaries.
  8. It was doubted that any monies would be available for the branch from either of the Regimental Offices.
  9. A discussion then took place in regards to which area we should belong.
  10. It was suggested that we invite the new Area Secretary to the branch and find out if any support will be available.
  11. Terry then went on and said the Northamptonshire Regiment dinner was £20. Per head with 180 people sitting down with no dancing or anything and the meal was not a patch on ours.
  12. Terry then went on to say that it may be necessary to increase the dinner price to cover the grant that Northampton used to give us.
  13. Richard then asked the members if there was anything that we are doing or wanted to do then we need know, Richard then went onto explain the events that we had attended and that next year there will be a TA 101 and the inspection of the Royal Artillery Silver.
  14. Terry then went onto the future events with the Royal Anglian Regimental Day which is a family day out and a free event you can visit Duxford itself.
  15. Noel then went on to explain the themes of the Regimental day the first being the Memorial and the Museum extensions that the Museum wants to do.
  16. A display of captured weapons and kit captured in Afghanistan as well as some head cam footage that was filmed while on tour.
  17. Terry then went on to speak about the dinner and asked if members wanted to show any exhibits then let us know and we will arrange a table.
  18. Terry then went on to Remembrance Day and asked members to attend as it would be nice to keep adding to the contingent.
  19. Noel Then went on to ask the members if they would be interested in the TOYF2 education talks
  20. Terry went on to any other business and told the members that we had attended many of the events around the region to try and promote both the branch and the Regiment.
  21. The Meeting then closed at 2050
